Valentine's day is of course the day of lovers, or so the commerce would like us to believe. For true lovers ever day is Valentine's day without the necessity to sponsor local shops and restaurants. Still, it is nice to do a little extra that day. In light of our recent engagement we decided to not go all out. This from a financial point of view. The wedding is going to be expensive, and we need to watch our budget a bit. But also, we are still beyond the moon, and our feet hasn't quite touched back on earth. We decided to do a nice romantic evening together at home. It turned out to be the best Valentine's day so far. No stress, no hurry, no traveling, no other people to take into account, just us (and our dog of course).
So we dined at Chez Marie, at a rose petal strewn table. Marie displayed her skills at a perfect 3-course dinner with a salmon and mozzarella "praline", beef wellington served with honey glazed endives and twister fries and as a desert a raspberry crème bavaroise. This with a nice bottle of Piper Heidsieck Rosé. Afterwards we snuggled under a blanket and watched some nice movies. Some seem to forget that Valentine's day is about love and attention for each other not expensive presents.
